You know how people say “my head is going to explode”? Well, Troy Baxley’s head exploded.
At least, his brain did.
He was getting gas when he had a brain bleed - not a stroke - but a “mild” brain bleed. One minute, he’s trying to put his gas cap on his car. The next he’s flat on his back with three strangers looking down at him, asking him if he’s okay. He wasn’t.
"Mild" brain bleeds are serious. He was in the hospital for a long time while they tried different things to fix his Big Fat Head. They tried "wait and see". That didn’t work. They tried a shunt. That didn’t work. Finally, they had to cut open a portion of his skull, release the pressure from the swelling and bleeding, and staple that part of his skull back. It’s as shitty as it sounds.
The good news is, he’s doing much better and he’s back home. He has some speech issues that come and go and some pain from the surgery (they used STAPLES in his HEAD). As the swelling continues to abate, the pain will subside and his speech should come back in time.
The bad news is - he has bills. Lots and lots of bills. Since he TALKS FOR A LIVING, the speech thing is kinda in the way of that. He needs recovery time without stressing about rent, food and chew.
So, we’re starting BRAIN AID - Like “Band Aid” or “Farm Aid” only for Troy’s BRAIN.
ALL proceeds from the show will go directly to Troy and his medical bills.
We will be hosting a silent auction in the Phoenix Gallery (basement of 3 Kings). If you or anyone you know is interested in donating goods, services, etc to be part of the auction, please email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Once again, all proceeds from the auction will go towards Troy’s expenses.
Thank you so much and please help spread the word!
